Good for firing order 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2 (chevy of course) However, I oriented the numerals on the pictorial banks to help indicate the relative position of each valve on a BBC. Print it out and use it if ya like it.

Then, use a feeler gauge to measure the gap between the rocker arm and the valve stem. Finally, adjust the lifter by loosening or tightening the adjusting nut until the correct gap is achieved. For hydraulic, you are right - tighten to 0 clearance as indicated by lifting the rocker up and down at the valve, until movement stops, then go another 1/4 to 1/2 turn. 1/2 turn is recommmnded for low perf and stock rebuilds.
